Season finale in Jackman all that remains for Rock Maple Racing
Bell, Thompson on track to secure points titles

HAMPSTEAD, New Hampshire (March 12, 2020) — After a season full of intense battles and courageous efforts, it all comes down to one final day. Winter is just about over, and for cross country snowmobile racers, it’s time to close it out with one last checkered flag.

Race teams from around the northeast will converge on the remote northwestern Maine town of Jackman this Saturday, as Rock Maple Racing (RMR) wraps up its 2020 campaign at Long Pond Camps. Jackman, unlike a majority of New England, has received ample snowfall the past few weeks.

Spectator gates will open at 8 a.m., with racing getting under way at 9. Admission is $10 for adults, while children age 10 and under are admitted free. The RMR season finale is hosted by the Border Riders Sportsman Club, with additional support from Hall & Smith Energy, Jackman Power Sports, Long Pond Camps, Royal River Boatyard, Surf & Turf Engineering, Twin Brook Landscaping, Bishop’s Motel, Four Seasons Restaurant, Jackman Auto Parts, Jordan Equipment, Lake Parlin Lodge, Jackman Equipment, the Northland Hotel, Bishop’s Store, EJ Carrier, Inc., Mama Bear Restaurant and Mountain Grooming.

The 2020 RMR finale at Long Pond Camps is also presented in part by Achey’s Auto Body, BMR Logging, Cozy Cove Cabins, Hammond Tractor, Jackman Hardware, Riverview Cottages, Jackman Motel and Sally Mountain Cabins.

Leading the charge into Jackman are Heath Bell and Dylan Thompson. Bell, of New Gloucester, Maine, has won four Pro Open finals this year and is looking to lock up the points crown. Thompson, of Lincoln, Maine has four Semi Pro wins to his credit this season and is poised to secure the title.

Other athletes to watch in the Pro class in Jackman include Remington Lessard, Luke Vaadi, TJ Leach and Ken Murphy. These athletes will make one more run at Bell on Saturday before it’s all over.

In Semi Pro, Thompson will be challenged by Travis Brisbin, Matt Cameron, Bruno Poirier, Derek Dawson and Martin Coutu. The 2020 season will be remembered for some inspiring performances by a handful of rising stars in this ever-popular division.

In the Women’s ranks, Krysti Leach and Mandy Cole will cap a season that saw both athletes push each other to new heights. Leach won three times while Cole won once. They’ll complete their winter-long friendly rivalry in Jackman to finish off another great year of competition.

Along with the ultra-competitive action of Pro, Semi Pro and Women’s classes, the day in Jackman will also include season finales for the Sport, Junior and 120cc classes. These athletes also put a big effort into their programs in 2020, and points titles are on the line in those divisions, as well.
