RaceChoice.com Driver Profile Series: Levesque Excited to Get Out and Travel with Bullring Bash
Attleboro, Massachusetts (April 24, 2019) — Another one of the rising youngsters in Southern New England Legend Car racing is traveling north this season. Dighton, MA’s Mason Levesque has entered the Bullring Bash Quarter Mile Challenge, presented by RaceChoice.com and will be heading to New Hampshire and Vermont for the trio of $1,500-to-win Midstate Site Development Legends events.
The 16-year-old is entering his fourth year behind the wheel of a Legend Car and has shown steady improvement with each passing season. He now joins the Bullring Bash as part of his larger plan to move beyond the borders of Massachusetts and Connecticut.
“We really like traveling around to different tracks,” Levesque said. “We don’t like staying at one track. We like to travel around, and these are two of the tracks we wanted to race at. We wanted to run up north more this year, and the Bullring Bash fits in with that.”
In 2018, Levesque competed weekly in both the Wild n’ Wacky Wednesday Pro Legends at Connecticut’s New London-Waterford Speedbowl and the Fast Friday INEX Legends at Massachusetts’ Seekonk Speedway. He finished fourth in points at the Speedbowl and sixth overall at Seekonk. Levesque posted 21 combined top-10 finishes between the two tracks with a season-best of second at New London-Waterford on July 4.
Levesque also made a trip to N. Woodstock, NH’s White Mountain Motorsports Park (WMMP), the site of the first two Bullring Bash events, for the NELCAR Amsoil Legends Tour event on September 16. He finished 12th in that race out of a 26-car starting field and will continue to try and find more speed at both WMMP and Barre, VT’s Thunder Road Speedbowl, which hosts the third event.
“We’re probably going to attend a few practices beforehand if we can,” Leveque noted. “During practice, we’ll also try to get in contact with people and ask them about their setups and gearing. We like experiencing bigger tracks, smaller tracks – we don’t like to stick to one type of track, really.”
The young Massachusetts racer will once again be behind the wheel of his #00 Greyhound Liquors Chevy Coupe for all three Bullring Bash events this season. Levesque’s father Jason owns the car and also serves as crew chief.
“He’s really good,” Levesque said. “We’re always working on the car, always trying to get the right setup. Since we’re always going to different tracks, we’re often trying new things and adjusting the setup. He’s really big with that.”
For Levesque, the Bullring Bash is more about getting out and trying new raceways than anything else. Still, he hopes to also bring home solid results against a growing entry list of the region’s top Legend Car racers.
“We’re hoping to at least get into the top-five,” he said. “A win would be really nice, of course, but we believe we have a top-5 car. There’ll be a lot of people racing from Waterford and Seekonk, but we’re also excited to race against people we haven’t seen before.”
