First Oxford Plains Speedway Super Late Model victory for Ryan Deane tops Budweiser Championship Series stock car racing card

Oxford, Maine – Ryan Deane of Winterport earned his first-ever Oxford Plains Speedway Super Late Model victory in a non-stop, 50-lap main event Saturday night.

Deane did most of his work in the tough outside groove, driving around racelong leader Dan McKeage of Gorham with about 20 laps remaining. Dean, who started from fifth position, also drove around championship points leader Gabe Brown of Center Conway, New Hampshire and four-time track champion Tim Brackett of Buckfield en route to victory.

McKeage, making a rare Saturday night appearance at OPS, hung on to post a second-place finish. Brown extended his advantage atop the season-long rankings with a third-place finish. Trevor Sanborn of East Parsonsfield ended up in fourth spot after starting 11th, making most of his progress in the outside groove.

Ryan Robbins of Dixfield grabbed the final top-five finishing position on the final lap, at the expense of Anson’s Scott Moore. Brad Babb of Windham, TJ Brackett of Buckfield, Calvin Rose, Jr. of Turner and Conway, New Hampshire’s Mark Lundblad, Jr. filled out the top-ten rundown.

Reigning Allen’s Coffee Brandy Street Stock champion Billy Childs, Jr. of Leeds won his fourth main event of the year, setting a blistering pace to earn his victory lane appearance. Childs started seventh and methodically worked his way into contention in the non-stop, 30-lap event.

Childs took the lead away from Norway’s Jordan Russell, who matched a career-best, second-place Street Stock finish. Oxford’s Ryan Hewins raced from dead last on the starting grid to a third-place performance. Oxford’s Skip Stanley led a few laps and finished fourth. Tyler King of Gray rounded out the top five.

Waterboro’s Travis Lovejoy cruised to his first win in the Bandits division, leading all 20 laps in the Budweiser Championship Series’ only four-cylinder racing class. Lovejoy outdistanced championship points leader Dustin Salley of Poland, who prevailed in a long battle for runner-up honors with defending Bandits champion Brandon Varmey of Mechanic Falls. Chad Wills of Buckfield was fourth, followed by Oxford’s Shaun Hinkley.

Charlie ‘Chachy’ Hall of Oxford led all 20 laps on his way to a first-ever Figure 8 race triumph. Hall had to hold off championship points leader Kyle Kilgore of South Paris to earn the win. Greg Durgin of South Paris was third, followed by Dale Lawrence of Lisbon and Oxford’s Kyle Glover.

Thomas Brackett of Auburn posted his ninth victory of the year in the 15-lap Rookie division race. The previous week’s winner, Brady Heath, was the runner-up. Owen Stuart crossed the line in third position, ahead of Brady Childs from Leeds.
