Oxford, ME – After a few strong runs down south driving for Woodman Racing, Joey Doiron was back behind the wheel of his family owned Super Late Model this past weekend for the Pro All Stars Series North season opener at Oxford Plains Speedway.  After fighting the handling all morning on his #73 JBJ Machine Chevrolet, Doiron was able to win the consolation race, and after starting 25th of the 38 starters, Doiron ended the season opener in the eighth position.

“We found a few things with our car that helped during the consi race and I felt like we had a great car going into the feature,” Doiron said of his day, “We needed track position bad and we didn’t get as many yellows to catch back up after starting so deep in the field, but I’m still proud of all the hard work my team put in this weekend and we will get ready to make a run at a win at Beech Ridge in a few weeks.”

Doiron started his day by finishing his heat race in the sixth spot after starting at the rear. He was able to drive his way to the front of the consolation race though, and take the win giving him a 25th place starting spot for the 150 lap feature event.  He fought hard early on and picked his way into the top 15 by the race’s halfway point, biding his time as there is a history of late race yellows in this event.  After a long green flag run though, the yellow came out with just ten laps to go with Doiron just inside the top ten.  Fighting hard on the restarts, he was close to having a top five finish going into the final lap, but after being boxed in in the final corner Doiron fell back to an eventual eighth place finish.

Doiron and his team will get their car prepared for the PASS North Series’ next event in two weeks at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Doiron is always strong in this event, as he grabbed his first PASS North Series win in this race three years ago and has a runner up finish in this race as well.  Support your local short track on May 2nd and see the always exciting PASS North Series at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway and show your support of the #73 JBJ Machine team!
