Chip Cormie DG 15Derek Griffith Turns Focus To First Oxford 250

(Oxford, ME) – It takes weeks and sometimes months to prepare for the biggest race in your young career; the 42nd running of the Oxford 250 is that race for Derek Griffith.

Griffith, the four-time winner and current point’s leader on the Granite State Pro Stock Series sees this opportunity as a coming out of sorts. “We’ve been prepping our Pro All Stars Series (PASS) car for quite a while now. We weren’t sure we were even going to be able to compete and try to qualify for the 250 but things came together and I know we are all excited about this opportunity.”, said Griffith.

Derek has competed with PASS three times in 2015 and believes this will help him when he tries to qualify for the Oxford 250, which has been dubbed the “richest one day race in North America.”

“Having raced with the likes of Mike and Ben Rowe this year, along with Jeremy Davis and DJ Shaw will really help me get used to the talent level at Oxford but it also depends on the number we draw, as there will probably be more than 60 Super Late Models in the Pits.”, remarked Griffith.

Derek also welcomes Chuck Taylor from Taylor Racing Enterprises as an associate sponsor and along with LCM Racing and The Club, the No. 12 Toyota Camry will be prepared for the Oxford 250.

“This is the race that is marked on everybody’s calendars at the beginning of the year, you work all year to try to get to a point of being able to compete in the Oxford 250, it’s our first attempt at what I hope will be many.”, says Griffith.

“Louie [Crew Chief Louie Mechalides] always has us prepared for competition; I expect no difference this time around. If we make the 250, the pit strategy will be vital, as this will be our first 10-tire race. We’ll put our pitting plan together as the day develops. I am very excited.” remarks Derek.

If you make it to the race, stop by the No. 12 LCM Racing Hauler and pick up one of the new Derek Griffith t-shirts and say hello.
