Barre, VT – The 31st running of the M&M Beverage Enduro 200 will be held at Barre’s Thunder Road this Sunday, August 2. The “People’s Race” will feature 200 laps of motorized mayhem in boneyard-stock cars with no yellow flags and only occasional red flags. More than 50 drivers have already signed up for the $3,000-to-win event with many more expected on Sunday.

Barre’s Chris LaForest will do double-duty on Sunday, competing in both the M&M Beverage Enduro and the Brian Perry & Son Construction Allen Lumber Street Stock 50-lap Special. LaForest finished second in the 2014 Enduro and looks to do one spot better this year while also maintaining his lead in the Street Stock Rookie of the Year standings.

“The Enduro is a race like none other,” LaForest said. “I race weekly, but I still have more fun racing in the Enduro just because it’s so exciting and you never know what’s going happen. I’ve got a new car this year, and I’m still trying to work out the bugs on it, but anything’s possible in the Enduro. I’m hoping to have a good run, but the only goal is beat my brother Kevin!”

A number of former Thunder Road weekly competitors have also entered the event. Former Late Model racers Joey Becker, Jeff Spooner, and Bob Eldred will all compete on Sunday. They will be joined by former Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman and Allen Lumber Street Stock drivers such as Joel Hodgdon, Mike MacAskill, Terry Pearce Jr., and Todd Brunelle.

No Thunder Road Enduro would be complete without the presence of “Dipstick” Don Tofani. The 70-year-old has once again entered the field after competing in each of the previous 30 Enduros, winning the event in 1987 and finishing second in 2013. He will try to become the oldest Enduro winner and only the third multi-time winner of the event.

The 31st M&M Beverage Enduro 200 at Barre’s Thunder Road is this Sunday, August 2 along with the Allen Lumber Street Stock 50-Lap Special. Post time is 6:00pm with the front gates opening at 3:00pm. Admission is $15 for adults and free for kids 12 and under.
