BRENTON PARRIOTT WINS LATE MODLE FEATURE AND SERIES AT 95

Brenton Parritt of Steuben took the lead from Hermon’s John Curtis Jr. on lap 38 of the 50 lap Hopkins Landscaping and Paving series race Saturday night at Speedway 95 and won that night’s feature event as well as the overall title for the three race series. John Kalel II of Orrington led the first 21 laps until a caution flag slowed the action for a spin in turn one by Wayne Parritt Jr. On the restart, Parritt got by Kalel, and led until lap 30, when Wayne Parritt Sr. brought out the yellow after a rubbing incident with Carmel’s Chris Ryan. When the green dropped again, Curtis forged ahead of Parritt to lead laps 31 through 37, when Parritt again got by Curtis to take the lead for good. Curtis finished second with Kalel finishing third. Wayne Parritt Jr. came back from his early race spin to record a fourth place finish, and Harrington’s Andrew McLaughlin came in fifth.

Deane Smart of Bradley won an early race skirmish with D.C. Alexander of Glenburn to take his first win of the season in the Darling’s Ford Sportsman division. Alexander finished second on the track, but was relegated to a fourth place finish after being penalized two spots for jumping the start of the race and passing a car before the start finish line. Karl Stanhope of Hampden was awarded second place with Mike Overlock of Franklin in third.

In the Pepsi Beverage Company Strictly Streets, Matt Kimball of Cornville led all 25 laps of the feature event to post his first win in the division. Kimball had to withstand a late race challenge from points leader Alex Berry of Harrington following a late race caution with seven laps to go. Berry finished in second followed by Derek Terrell of Plymouth, who finished third. Fourth at the checkers went to pole sitter Keith Ogden of Holden with Ellsworth’s Bradley Norris finishing fifth.

Skowhegan’s Zach Audet won his 11th feature of the season in the Coca-Cola Sport-Four division, passing early leader Donny Silva of Hudson on lap seven. Silva held on to finish second, followed by points leader Garret Hayman of Milford in third. Old Town’s Dylan Street finished fourth with last year’s champion, Ted Ryder of Carmel, in fifth.

Due to Wednesday’s rain out and the poor weather forecast for the rest of the week, the Wacky Wednesday show scheduled for August 13th was moved to Saturday night, and run in conjunction with that night’s racing.

Andrew Crosby of Hermon won the Modified 4/6/8 cylinder division feature with fellow Hermon driver Rhonda Cain, a former Ladies Division champion taking the second spot. Third went to Jeremy Scott of Carmel with early leader Rick Gomm of Dixmont in fourth. Tony Clewley of Bangor finished fifth.

Nicholas Cota of Greenfield won the Stars of Tomorrow feature after Marcus Dunn of Newburgh lost control of his car while challenging Cota for the lead and ended up rolled over on the backstretch. Scott Hunt of Kenduskeag finished in second, followed by Carmel’s Steve Dunham in third. Jordan Moulton of Holden was fourth and Dunn finished fifth.

In the Stock 4/6/8 cylinders, it was Zach Audet of Skowhegan taking the win, followed by Hermon’s Kevin Hartley in the second spot. Third went to Matt Kimball of Cornville with Gilbert Ogden Jr. of Mariaville in fourth. Nathan Hatch of Holden finished fifth.
