After taking a week of from feature racing, Oakland’s Mike Landry paced the 20-car field to the green flag. Landry led until lap four when rookie Mike Fowler, of Scarborough, was able to claim the lead from Landry with ease. Fowler who was fast in qualifying, opened up a multiple car-length lead over Landry and the entire field.

A caution on lap 13 regrouped the field back together. On the restart, Fowler now faced Richard Pelton, of Scarborough. Pelton was no challenge for the strong Fowler as Fowler was able to clear him by the start-finish line.

By the halfway mark, points leader Dave Farrington, of Jay, and Windham’s Corey Bubar were able to charge their way inside the top three and set their sights on Fowler. A late race caution on lap 30 was just what Farrington and Bubar needed to have a shot at the victory.

On the anticipated restart, Fowler chose the inside lane, giving Farrington the outside lane. Fowler and Farrington battled side-by-side for a lap until Fowler was able to retake the lead coming out of the fourth turn. He led for one more lap until another caution flew. Farrington looked to take over the lead, while Bubar was waiting for his moment to capture the lead.

On the lap 32 restart, Fowler and Bubar made contact going into the first turn and both drivers lost control sending out another caution. Due to both drivers being the reason of the caution they both were sent to the rear of the field. The unfortunate mishap now gave Farrington the lead, young Tyler King, of Livermore Falls second and veteran Kelly Moore third.

The two young stars made up the front row and set up for a entertaining restart. Farrington chose the outside grove and claimed the lead with ease. He opened up a car-length lead over King and lead the field for three laps until the final caution of the event flew and set up a five lap shootout.

Both Farrington and King were side-by-side on the restart and King edged a nose going into the first turn. King opened up a half car-length lead over Farrington, while Farrington was on his outside. On the final lap King and Farrington were both sideways coming to the finish line but King was able to edge Farrington at the line and claim his second victory of the season.
