THE GLORY DAYS RETURN TO OXFORD PLAINS SPEEDWAY RACING SATURDAY NIGHTS AT 7PM, KIDS PIT TOUR 6:25PM

The glory days of racing will return to Saturday nights at Oxford
Plains Speedway beginning this Saturday, August 2nd with Whited RV from
Auburn hosting the evening’s activities. After trying to make a go of things
on Friday nights for the past two seasons, the decision was made to switch
to Saturday night racing for the balance of the season.

“We have received so many requests from people whom would love to be
coming to the races here at Oxford on a weekly basis, but by the time they
get home from work, shower, eat dinner and relax for a moment, it doesn’t
leave them much time to head to the track, and many just stay home, stated
OPS owner, Tom Mayberry. If you live more than forty-five minutes away from
the track, we are finding it very hard for the fans to make it here on time.
We also have received many complaints from drivers that have to take every
Friday afternoon off to get to the track, and many are only doing it
periodically if at all. Saturday has always been known as the night for
racing, and hopefully we will see some more people in the grandstands, and
drivers in the pits. Comments have been 95% positive, and we hope this will
continue to be a positive change. There is no better weekly racing around
than what we are offering, and we want race fans to enjoy it!”

When racing resumes this Saturday, the card will be a good one to
start the change over with. The hugely popular Kids Pit Tour will kick off
at 6:25pm on Saturday night prior to the races. The Kids Pit Tour is a
guided tour for all youngsters through the pit area where they can see the
racecars up close, meet and greet the drivers, get to enter the racecar
haulers and receive treats and fun things from the race teams. The race card
will feature the PASS Sportsman, Budweiser Pro Late Models, Allen’s Coffee
Flavored Brandy Street Stocks, Ripley & Fletcher Ford Outlaw Sportsman, and
Banditos. Racing will get underway at 7pm.
