Hickory, NC – After being delayed a day due to rain, DJ Shaw and the #60 Precision JLM Racing team started their 2014 campaign in Victory Lane as they celebrated a big win in the “Easter Bunny 150” at Hickory Motor Speedway. After pacing for the first two thirds of the event, Shaw made some daring moves in the closing laps and was relentless as he got by Tyler Church in the final turn of the final lap to score the victory.

“I was certainly more aggressive than usual there,” Shaw said of the closing laps, “We just rode for the first part of that race then with about 25 laps to go it was go time, the 7 (Church) and I raced hard there at the end, it was a little too close for comfort but I wasn’t going to let this one get away again.”

Shaw qualified for the event in the fourth position of the competitive 31 car field of Super Late Model drivers. At the start, Shaw fought to the third place before a caution for a huge wreck behind the leaders stalled the race early. After the green flag came back out, he rode in the top five for much of the event, just saving his tires for a run at the finish. After a late race caution with 30 laps to go, it was go time.

Sitting in fifth, Shaw fended off a charge from Daniel Hemric and began to work his way to the front of the field. He got by the top four in a matter of four laps, as he worked by Harrison Burton with eight laps to go to take the race lead. Shaw was pulling away when, with five laps remaining another yellow came out, giving the fans a shootout to witness for the finish. On the race’s final restart, Tyler Church pulled ahead of Shaw off the line, but Shaw was relentless and got under Church with two laps remaining, the two battled side by side until the last lap as Shaw cleared Church off turn four coming to the checkered flag and took the win. Shaw was ecstatic to win at a track with as much history as Hickory Motor Speedway.

“It’s great to win at a track as historic as this place,” Shaw said of the win, “I have to thank the track and PASS for getting this race in today, I know a lot of people wanted to be home with their families but they came out today to support us and it was a great show. I’ve got to thank everybody that help us, there are a few guys who race back home that come with us, their support means a lot to me.”

Next up for DJ Shaw and the Precision JLM team will be next weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday, April 26th for the Pro All Stars Series North season opener. The action will kick off at 2:00pm on Saturday with the heat races, followed by the 150 lap feature event. Come to the track and support local racing and DJ Shaw as he looks to go two in a row to start the season.
