Beech RidgeScarborough, ME – Saturday’s NASCAR Nite Pro Series 40-lap feature event was won by Bobby Timmons, III, of Windham.

At the drop of the green, Gorham’s Sulo Burbank, paced the 18-car field to the green flag and led the first lap, however lost the lead to rookie Evan Beaulieu, of Durham, the following lap. Beaulieu led until Tyler King, of Livermore, chased down him after starting in his 5th starting spot and took the top spot from Beaulieu on lap five.

At the halfway mark, King maintained a large lead over Beaulieu and looked like the decisive winner. A caution on lap 35 flew for King, who came to a stop on the front stretch with apparent mechanical failure; King had to retire pit side, while handing the lead to Beaulieu with only five laps remaining.

The caution set up a five-lap shootout between Beaulieu and Timmons. On the restart, Beaulieu chose the outside lane choice as Timmons took the inside. The outside lane proved unsuccessful for Beaulieu as Timmons was able to gain momentum going into the first corner and capture the top spot. Timmons led the final five laps of the event en route to his first win of the 2013 season.

For Timmons, it was his first win since July, 2012, and second career NASCAR Nite Pro Series victory.

Eddie McDonald, of Rowely, MA, captured the lead from Eddie Polewarczyk, of Hudson, NH, on a late race restart and went on to win the American Canadian Tour 150-lap feature event.
