Lee, NH – The Laticrete Port City 100 for the Valenti Auto Mall Modified Racing Series took center stage at Lee USA Speedway Friday night, and there was plenty more feature event action on tap due to the rain that interrupted the last NASCAR Whelen All-American Series show a week earlier.

The 100-lap race went caution free well past halfway, with Jon McKennedy (1-5), Chris Pasteryak (6-17), and Rowan Pennink (18-82) leading laps before the real action started. McKennedy got back to the lead on lap 83, but he was knocked out of contention when Tommy Barrett tried to grab the lead.

Nearly half the field got caught up in the ensuing scramble, which blocked the track and brought the race under a red flag. Pennink picked up the lead when the action resumed, but he also spun from the point, putting Jeff Malave at the head of the field for a restart with six laps remaining.

And it wasn’t over yet, as the same fate befell Malave, who wound up finishing 13th after his two-to-go troubles. Les Hinckley, Jr. led the final two laps and scored the win, with Todd Owen, Louie Mechalides, Pasteryak, Max Zachem, Jimmy Dolan, Joe Doucette, Norm Wrenn, Pennink, and Mark Bakaj second through tenth.

The David’s Race Cars and Components Hobby Stocks had to complete their feature event from the prior week in addition to their regularly-scheduled feature event, with Mike Williams taking down his first win of the year in the Mike White entry to start the night.

Paul Palen was next across the stripe to collect runner-up honors, followed by Jim Shorey, Jim Piaseczny, Chris Jacobson, Kenny Scott, Jr., Niko Maniatis, David MacDonald, Kyle Sawyer, and Ron Washburn.

Piaseczny picked up his first win of the year in the nightcap, holding off a determined Palen to collect the victory. Palen doubled up in runner-up, with Williams, Shorey, Scott, Sawyer, Maniatis, Patrick Tanguay, MacDonald, and early-race leader Brandon Bourne the rest of the top ten.

Michele Fushpanski picked up her second win of the 2012 campaign aboard the L&W Auto Repair entry in the held-over Late Model Sportsman feature event, with rookie Kyle Roy, Craig Smith, Ryan Green, J.R. Baril, Jason Welch, Tony Kawejsza, Patrick Stewart, Timmy Johnson, and David Piper following.

Baril returned to his winning ways in the second race of the night, outrunning Bill Ahern to pick up the checkers. Ahern settled for second, with Boe Green, Johnson, Fushpanski, Smith, Welch, Stewart, Roy, and Piper rounding out the top ten.

The Northeast Classic Lites made another stop at Lee on Friday, with George Helliwell showing them the fast way around once again. Rob Bryant and Eddie Gilman rounded out the post-race podium.

The next race event on the agenda features the Late Model Sportsman Stars & Cars of Lee USA Speedway regulars and outside sportsman cars expected to compete. Interest has been shown by many competitors that run in the PASS Sportsman Series. Racing action gets under way for this 100 Lapper with qualifying going to the line at 7PM on Friday, July 6th.
