ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup Race Report – Night 2
Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, finished 16th in the second ACT 100 at the inaugural ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., on Monday, February 14. Theriault finished 11th in Sunday night’s opening event, the second-year ACT Late Model Tour driver’s debut with RPM Motorsports. Theriault fought an ill-handling race car from the outset on Monday, pitting several times to make changes to the No. 57 Varney Insurance Ford Fusion, but never seemed to get the car exactly the way he wanted.

AUSTIN, IT SEEMED LIKE A LONG NIGHT.
Yeah, it was. Today the car seemed like it was a little better in practice. We really had our heads up for tonight, but the car started off really, really tight in the race. It was so tight, we had to give up track position to come in (to pit) several times.
The car just wasn’t responding to any of the changes we made. We made drastic changes, too, and it just didn’t respond. Nothing seemed to work.
THOUGHTS ON SEEING TEAMMATE BRIAN HOAR IN VICTORY LANE TONIGHT?
That’s great to see. I’m happy for (team owner Rick Paya) and Brian and all the guys. It was a great night for RPM and those guys.
ASIDE FROM THE FINISHES THE LAST TWO NIGHTS, DID YOU GET WHAT YOU WANTED IN TERMS OF GETTING ACQUAINTED WITH THE NEW TEAM AT RPM?
Yeah. I’m really looking forward to this year. I’m still just grateful to be driving an RPM car. We’ll get better. We’re still working on team chemistry with a brand new car.
Overall, not looking at the finishes, we had fun. We got introduced to each other, me and Rick and Brian and everyone else. Now I’m just looking forward to the start of the season.
