Naples ME (4/26) PASS North’s tenth anniversary season gets underway on Saturday afternoon May 1st at Scarborough Maine’s Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, and racers and race fans from throughout the region are ready for the long awaited opening day.

There’s a healthy list of pre-entries in the headlining PASS super late model division. Adam Bates, Johnny Clark, Ben Rowe, Kelly Moore and Richie Dearborn all have to be considered threats for the opening day win. Travis Benjamin, Scott Chubbuck, Matt Frahm and Joey Doiron all run strong at the Ridge. Gary Smith, Donnie Whitten, Scott Alexander, Chuck Colby and John Higgins are all pre-entered plus fans can expect to see a number of Beech Ridge Pro Series regulars attempt to steal the touring pros’ thunder.

Both defending Beech Ridge Pro Series Champion Mike Rowe and local favorite Trevor Sanborn are expected to be in Saturday’s field; Rowe will be looking for two PASS Beech Ridge wins in a row after putting an exclamation point on his first track title with a win in the PASS 300 in September 2009. Sanborn has had the car to beat on several occasions at the Ridge and you can expect him to contend for his first PASS North checker on Saturday.

In addition to Rowe, Adam Bates and Chris Staples each claimed a victory in the three 2009 PASS appearances at the Scarborough oval.

A strong field of PASS Mods, the popular PASS Sportsman, Pro Four Modifieds and Legends complete the five division card. All told there’s over 300 laps of feature racing on tap at the family friendly facility and it’s a recipe that will satisfy even the most diehard race fan’s need for speed.

Saturday May 1st sees the pit area open at 10:00 AM with rotating practice getting underway at 11:30 AM. The first green flag of 2010 will drop at 3:00 PM.
