Scarborough ME (June 26) Adam Bates took over the race lead from Scott Chubbuck just past half way in Friday nights’ Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North 150 lap super late model feature to score his  third career series win,  his second at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. The Granite State racer had a car that could dominate and the talent to take advantage of it in a race that was short on cautions and featured a 115 lap stretch of green flag racing. Bates now  has two wins and two second place finishes in the last four PASS races at Beech Ridge dating back to July of 2008.

Johnny Clark did his best to wrestle the win away from Bates. The pair started one-two after the night’s final caution at lap 144 set up a six lap shoot-out to the checker. Clark held his ground on the outside and the lead pair crossed the stripe on lap 145 in a dead heat.  But Bates edged ahead on the bottom and slowly increased his margin of victory to .462 seconds over the three time series champ.
Clark settled for a solid second and Richie Dearborn came out on top of a three wide tussle with Kelly Moore and Scott Mulkern to finish third. Moore, who led from the pole through lap 82, had to settle for fourth. Donnie Whitten earned his first top five of 2009, and Scott Mulkern had a successful return to PASS racing with a sixth place run.

Scott Chubbuck faded to seventh after running at the front for most of the night, and Chris Staples, who captured his first Pro All Stars super late model win at Beech Ridge earlier in the season had to settle for eighth this time around. Ben Rowe recovered from a multi-car wreck on lap 143 to salvage a ninth place finish and Derek Ramstrom rounded out the top ten.

Nine cars completed the full distance. Heat Race wins went to Kelly Moore, Bates, and Scott Chubbuck. Bates set the fastest race lap at 15.316 seconds. Five caution periods slowed the race pace.
PASS South takes the spotlight as we celebrate our nation’s birthday, with the popular Firecracker 125 slated for Greenville-Pickens (SC)  Speedway on Friday July 3rd and the Independence 150 at Hickory (NC) Motor Speedway on Sunday July 5th.

After a weekend off  PASS North has a doubleheader of their own on tap with The Full Fender Frenzy 75 at Thompson (CT) International Speedway on Saturday July 11th and the Bastille 200 at Lee (NH) USA Speedway on Tuesday July 14th.
