NAPLES ME – The 2008 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model North schedule is complete and the series’ eighth season is highlighted by some big new races, a change in the point format and a brand new series within a series.

The fastest full bodied race cars in the northeast will tackle a fourteen race schedule with stops at eight of the top short track racing venues in New England and Maritime Canada.

The season kicks off Saturday April 19th at Beech Ridge Speedway, and the PASS SLM racers will return to the fan-friendly Scarborough Maine oval on Saturday July 5th and Friday and Saturday September 20-21 for the big PASS 400 weekend. Speedway 95 has been a part of the PASS schedule since the series’ inception and PASS will be back at the Hermon ME oval on May 3rd. Doug and Becky White’s Wiscasset (ME) Raceway will host the PASS Super Late Models on four occasions. The coastal oval will see PASS in action on Sunday May 18th for the Ray Haskell Ford 150, Saturday June 15th, Sunday August 17th for the DNK Select 250 and the season ending Fall Brawl PASS weekend of champions on Saturday and Sunday, October 4th and 5th. PASS returns to North Woodstock NH and the quarter-mile high-banks of White Mountain Motorsports Park for two dates on Saturday May 24th and Saturday September 13th. All Star Speedway in Epping NH has a two day event on tap for Friday and Saturday June 27th and 28th and Groveton NH’s Riverside Speedway will complete the Granite State portion of the schedule on Saturday July 26th. PASS heads to southern New England for its annual visit to Don Hoenig’s Thompson (CT) Speedway for the popular “Full Fendered Frenzy” event on Saturday July 12th. PASS rounds out its 2008 schedule with its annual excursion to the beautiful Canadian maritime for the Atlantic Cat 250 at Scotia Speedworld in Halifax Nova Scotia on August 8th and 9th.

Teams that are chasing the 2008 PASS North Super Late Model Championship will count their 12 best finishes on the 14 race schedule towards the title, a new policy that should help teams that have a bad race or two keep competitive in the championship battle.

According to series President Tom Mayberry, “We’re going to try this format for 2008 and if it works like its intended it will keep the top ten in the PASS Super Late Model points even tighter as the season progresses. In the past, one bad race has taken some teams out of the points chase, but the two “mulligans” should be a big help. As always, consistency will be the key but a bad night or two won’t necessarily spoil your chances for a championship season.”

Also new for 2008 is the four-race PASS Super Late Model National Championship series that will pit the north and south series against one another for overall bragging rights. The designated national championship events are the Easter Bunny 150 at the legendary Hickory (NC) Motor Speedway on Saturday March 22nd, Orange County Speedway in Rougemount NC on July 18th and 19th, The PASS 400 weekend hosted by Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Friday and Saturday September 20th and 21st, and The Howler at historic Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Easley SC on Sat October 18th.

All events are part of the PASS North or South regular season schedules so each event will feature a points race within the race. The best three finishes in the four race series will decide the National Championship. Drivers that finish in the top ten in PASS National points will receive cash and awards to be announced at a later date.
