Chris Staples has become a legend in the PASS Modified Series, with 11 career wins, which is almost more than double then any other driver in the 4 year history of series. The only driver that comes close is Jason Taylor with 7 career wins in the PASS Modified Series. Staples winning the 2006 & 2007 PASS Modified Champion is now looking towards the 2008 season.

            Staples got into racing when he was only 5yrs old as a spectator, going to Oxford Plains Speedway to watch a pro-stock race car that his father was sponsoring. By the time he was 10yrs old he was Mud racing but, ended up being disqualified due to his age after  finishing 2nd in one of the races.  When Chris turned 12 and was now elagiable to race he returned to mud racing. His 2 years of competition in the mud Staples, came home with 28 trophies.  Then its was onto the Oval tracks where he won 2 championships, and 3 “Rookie of the Year Awards”.

Q. How did you get started in racing?

A.  My father sponsored race cars when I was little and I got hooked  

 

Q. What is your most memorable moment in your racing career?

A. Finishing second in a 100 lap race after leading all day and cutting a tire with 20 to go I nursed it home with a flat right front for second. 

 

Q. What's your favorite track to race at?

A. Oxford Plains Speedway I grew up there and just love the place even though I don’t like the way it’s managed. 

Q. Who was your strongest competition for the 2007 Pass Modified Championship?

A. My teammate Mark Lucas.  

 

Q. What are your plans for the 2008 season?

A. The 2008 season we have not yet decided what we will be doing.  We are kinda playing it by ear got to see how much money we can spend and that will be determined by how the winter goes.  

 

Q. What do you like to do when you are not racing?

A. Over the off season I am getting married to hope we are going to the carribean for our honey moon and I have been building a 77 jeep cj5 with our kids other than that just been dreaming of gettin back in the seat in april 

 

Q. Favorite type of music?

A. Rock and country. 

 

Q. What do you drive when you are not driving a race car?

A.  GMC Denali.
