BARRE, VT – American-Canadian Tour (ACT) stock car driver Trampas Demers has filed an entry for the $50,000+ ACTion Super Series 29th Bond Auto Labor Classic 200 at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl (Barre, VT), Sunday, Sept. 2.  Demers, a regular weekly competitor at the high-banked ¼-mile oval, fell just short of scoring a major upset victory at last year’s Bond Auto Labor Classic 200.

The South Burlington, VT driver trailed leaders Eric Williams and Dave Pembroke by a single car length in the final corner, taking his best career ACT Late Model Tour finish in third place.

“A run like that builds confidence and makes you believe that you have a chance against the Tour teams,” said Demers.  “We’re used to running short 50-lap features on Thursday nights; two hundred laps at Thunder Road can wear a driver out.  Everything has to go your way and you have to keep your concentration every lap.  We’re confident that we can run with and beat guys like Jean-Paul Cyr, Scott Payea, and all the top ACT drivers.”

Cyr and Payea are 1-2 in ACT Late Model Tour point standings after nine of 13 events.  Cyr is the six-time and defending ACT champion, while Payea picked up his second career ACT victory at New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park last weekend.  Both drivers hail from Milton, VT.

Demers has also filed an entry for the $10,000-to-win 44th annual Vermont Milk Bowl, Sat./Sun., Sept. 29/30, the final round of the ACTion Super Series.  Demers won the pole position in time trial qualifying for the race in 2003.

“Truthfully, we haven’t had that great of a season at Thunder Road,” admitted Demers, “but the car has been performing much better over the last two or three weeks, and we believe we’ll really have something for the Tour drivers at the Super Series races.  Last week I found a new place in the corners that my car will work well in during the time trials at the Milk Bowl.  We’re already getting prepared.”

In addition to the ACTion Super Series events at Thunder Road, Fraserville, Ontario’s Kawartha Speedway will host the $6,000-to-win Summer Sizzler 200 on Saturday, Sept. 15.  As many as 60 Late Model race teams from the United States and Canada are expected to compete at the ACTion Super Series events.

Green flag qualifying action at Thunder Road’s 29th Bond Auto Labor Classic 200 begins on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 1:00pm.  Optional ACT Late Model practice sessions will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1 beginning at 12:00 noon, joined by qualifying events for Thunder Road’s three weekly racing divisions at 2:30pm.  For more information, call (802) 244-6963 or visit www.acttour.com or www.thunderroadspeedbowl.com.
